A mouse or keyboard can be used to play the game:

Mouse Control

When the mouse pointer is a foot, your character, Rockford or Crystal, will (try to) go to that place on the screen where you click. The character will always move in a straight line (row or column), as long as it is possible. So you can only set a simple route (containing only one turn at most). For more complex routes it is recommended that you press and hold the left mouse button, and navigate by dragging the mouse's foot cursor along your desired path. Your character moves at a constant speed, so very fast movements of the mouse will not increase their speed and will take a moment to be implemented.

Your tools can only be used on adjacent cells. Right-clicking (using the mouse's right button) will cycle through your available tools, this way you do not have to move the mouse outside the main game area. However, you can always use the mouse to click on tools, which appear as rungs on the rope ladder to the right of the main game area.

If you press and hold the SPACE BAR on the keyboard, the game will try to guess which tool (bomb, hammer, boot or hand) you want to use. The mouse pointer will change accordingly, as you move the mouse over the adjacent cells. If the program selection was correct, you only have to left click in order to select and thus use the given tool.

Keyboard Control

You control your hero with the arrow keys on the keyboard.

Just like using the right mouse button, pressing the TAB key will cycle through the available tools, but each tool and function has its own shortcut key as well: move the mouse over the given tool, in order to find out the corresponding shortcut key on the keyboard.

The selected tool can be used by holding down the SPACE BAR and then pressing the arrow key that points to the location where you wish to use the tool. If the currently active item is the foot, the game will try to guess which tool you now want to use in the location you've selected by the SPACE BAR and the given arrow key. If there is more than one tool which can be used in that location, the game will first present a bomb, then a hammer, and finally a boot . If none of them can be used in the given location, it will use the hand.
